*Cassandra, Prophet Of Doom* is the tenth full-length album by the Philadelphia-based trio Stinking Lizaveta, released in 2026 and available on LP and in other formats. The band, whose roots lie in an instrumental blend of progressive doom and doom jazz, continues to combine crushing, deep riffs with nimble, almost conversational guitar lines and restless, jazz-infused drumming. The absence of vocals means that the narrative weight rests entirely on dynamics and melody, making tempo changes, rhythmic twists and harmonic surprises the primary narrative devices in the album’s compelling storyline. The album’s production emphasises clarity without sacrificing heaviness, giving each instrument room to breathe whilst retaining the impact one would expect from a doom-oriented release. Guitars alternately swell and spread out, the bass occupies a thick, driving mid-range, and the drums cut through sharply with precise cymbal work and tom-heavy patterns that push the music towards prog and noise rock. Stylistically, ‘Cassandra, Prophet Of Doom’ feels both cinematic and live, capturing the sound of a seasoned band expanding its established language into new forms, whilst remaining firmly anchored in its progressive doom metal foundations.
