Sceaduhelm, released in 2026 by Crippled Black Phoenix, is an album of dark, melodic metal available as a two-LP set. It is the project’s most introspective and austere work to date. The album moves away from grand historical narratives and delves into emotional erosion, fatigue, quiet collapse, burnout, memories, violence against the vulnerable and worn-out love. It creates a cohesive psychological space through repetition, restraint, unresolved tension and slow build-up, prioritising endurance over catharsis. Produced by Justin Greaves and mixed by Iver Sandøy, the raw, stripped-back sound combines heavy riffs, sombre guitars, pounding drums, ethereal vocals, electronics and melancholic tones, featuring shared vocals by Belinda Kordic,Ryan Patterson and Justin Storms offer complementary emotional perspectives. The album’s dark core balances melody and catchiness with a sense of heaviness, evoking influences such as The Cure through its despondent piano, the weight in the lower registers, and the poignant expressions of exhaustion and struggle.
