Matsutake is a pungent delicacy whose taste one must first learn to appreciate, and a mushroom that can neither be cultivated nor industrially grown. In a world shaped by individualism, monocultures, and collapsing ecosystems, this mushroom thrives in the ruins of artificially planted pine forests.Applied to music and creativity, Matsutake invites us to think in polyphonies, flows, and experiments rather than in isolated basslines, catchy vocals, and hit songs. With Matsutake, Bismut takes us on a journey away from alienation, through curiosity, toward (potential) immortality, and invites us to seek what is worth saving rather than to conquer and destroy.
