PENTAGRAM - HIGH VOLTAGE LIVE AT SPOTSYLVANIA 1978 -

This is an extremely rare recording from the period when the band consisted of five members, including two guitarists. “Live at Spotsylvania” captures Pentagram performing an all-night concert in a back garden in Spotsylvania, Virginia, at the home of bassist Martin Sweeney’s mother, for around 500 fans who were spending the weekend there. The show, recorded around 1978 during the band’s brief ‘High Voltage’ era, began at 1 am on a misty evening and featured rare tracks, performed in a raw, powerful style. The audio combines a soft mixing desk mix with recordings from ambient microphones, resulting in a surprisingly powerful sound quality. A memorable moment came during the heavy second half of ‘20 Buck Spin’ when, right on the beat, a firecracker went off, its sound echoing through the trees. – Bobby Liebling Recorded in 1978 in Spotsylvania, in Martin Swaney’s back garden.
